Local legend works with The Needles
The Needles Landmark Attraction has produced a video with local music legend Derek Sandy to encourage more people to visit the Isle of Wight.
The video, shot exclusively at the landmark attraction and around Freshwater Bay, is soundtracked by one of Derek’s most popular tracks, ‘Welcome to the Isle of Wight’.
The reggae singer is no stranger to The Needles, regularly performing there during the summer season, and was keen to work with the marketing team at the attraction who commissioned, produced and edited the fun and sunny video.
Filmed this summer, the video shows Derek dancing and singing, meeting visitors to The Needles and just enjoying the sunshine, sand, sea and spectacular views the island boasts.
Derek Sandy said:
“I have so much love for the Isle of Wight, its sights and its people, and was very happy to be asked by The Needles to help create a new video for my love song to this place.
“It’s been a while since I first recorded ‘Welcome to the Isle of Wight’ and I hope this new video will sell the beauty of the island to even more visitors.”
Marino Zanti, general manager at The Needles and director of Derek’s new video, said:
“When we came up with the idea of producing a video to promote the Isle of Wight we immediately thought of Derek as he’s a talent whose career is linked so closely with the island.
“I’m sure this new video will strike a chord with both tourists and locals alike as it showcases so much of what the Isle of Wight does best.”
